Top Goals of a College Senior

What are my goals for this year? This is one question I cannot answer easily.

I prefer to categorize my dreams and plans, to ease my anxiety. I keep my goals in sections, such as: academic, finances, hair care, hobbies, and more. I have goals for the entire summer, and I have goals for every day.

1. To Apply to Graduate Programs

This summer is full of events that make me uncertain about the future. At the same time, I realize that life has always been complex, and I need to adapt.

Last fall, I learned about the field of school psychology, and met with many wonderful professionals who helped me find my calling.

I can’t give up on this new ambition, just because it’s hard to think about what may go wrong. It’s better to have tried and failed, than to turn tail, after all.

2. To Have an Awesome Recruitment

This will be my last formal recruitment so it’s very exciting. I’ve been through two recruitments so far, once as a new member to my sorority, and once as an officer.

This time I will work on the Panhel side, representing Greek life as a whole. Due to the pandemic, many changes have been made, but I’m still excited to see how everything turns out.

3. To Enjoy My Final Semester as an Officer

I’ve always been drawn to leadership positions, because they allow me to directly impact the organizations I’m a part of. I love being in a sorority, and wanted to see Greek life from a more objective perspective, so I joined the Panhellenic Council.

I love psychology and plan on becoming a psychologist, so joining the Coe College Psychology Club just made sense.

Despite changes that will be implemented for all student organizations, due to social distancing rules, I’m going to make the most of the time I have left. Once the semester ends, I plan to focus on graduation and life after college.

4. To Create and Maintain a Fall Budget

Money is tight and that’s a fact. It would have been nice to work this summer, but, you know how the country is right now. I plan on going back to work in the fall, and intend to stick to a budget.

Budgets are amazing, because they ensure that I don’t overspend on things I don’t need, while still allowing me wiggle room to enjoy myself.

5. To Donate/Sell Unnecessaries

I have too much stuff. It’s a problem. Before, I didn’t see that owning stacks of T-shirts was abnormal, because so many people do the same. However, when I stacked them into a large pile, I saw it. It’s a monster.

Out of sight, out of mind is how closets work. When I tried on every shirt and had to look at them all folded on my bed and on my floor, I was appalled. Why do I own so many clothes? By December 31, I want to have my closet cleaned out.
